Design
Oryx Metal Industries LLC (OMI), unlike many other competitors, uses the latest 3D Software Applications to offer a claimless, defect free, and user-friendly product.
3D design is not only a marketing tool; it is mainly an engineering device that ensures that the design is free from hidden defects and unnoticed weaknesses. It calculates all different ratios (e.g., flexibility, torsion, flexion, and resistance) enabling us to manufacture a high-end quality product that meets, and even exceeds, the customer’s expectations.
It also allows us to cover all OMI products by a comprehensive 24-month warranty on all steel components and engineering defects. No wonder why all our major suppliers agreed to extend their one-year guarantee to meet our complete warranty policy, relying on a solid design department.
Pre-Production & Preparation
At this stage, steel is transformed to geometrical shapes before revolving into a tanker, tipper, or through direct order from the 3D-design department to the computerized CNC machineries where human error is avoided and workflow is guaranteed.
OMI invests heavily in computerized CNC machineries that are backed by a state-of-the-art 3D design department that aims at assuring defect-free products and a continuous production flow for a higher output without compromising on quality.
Production
Production processes following stringent international standards and parameters from welding to finishing and in between all other processes such as assembly, blasting, painting, and testing:
- Tankers manufacturing follows the United Nations (UN) ADR norms
- Welding procedures follow the AWS (American Welding Society)
- Steel specifications abide by the ASTM (American) and/or DIN (German) standards
- Sand blasting operations follow the SA Swedish norms
- Painting follows the ISO 12944 norms and/or SSPC (Steel Structure Painting Council)
Moreover, OMI adopts many environmental-friendly procedures from painting to waste management to help preserve the environment.
Preparation Step:
Steel sheets and beams are transferred from the store to the preparation area. Sheets are cut to size with the shear presses. Some of the cut sheets are sent directly to the assembly area while the others are sent to the bending and plasma machines. Beams are cut to length with the band saw. Hinges and pivoting axles are lathe machined. Small steel accessories such as hooks, stairs, and other, are prepared.
Assembly Step:
All parts from the preparation area, in addition to raw material from the store, are sent to the assembly area. All components such as axles, rims, tires, hydraulic pistons, tool boxes, and other various accessories are also handed to the team leader.
- Step 1: Platform (Floor) is assembled then welded
- Step 2: Sides (or tank shell) are assembled then welded
- Step 3: Front panel and doors are assembled then welded
- Step 4: All previous parts are assembled then welded to form the main body (e.g., tipper, tanker, etc.)
- Step 5: Profile beams are assembled and welded in addition to the axles’ suspension to form the main chassis
- Step 6: Body and chassis are sent to the grit booth for blasting then to the paint booth
- Step 7: Installation of all accessories (e.g., electrical, brakes, tires, hydraulics, etc.)
Procurement:
At OMI we do not have suppliers; we only deal with partners because we believe that offering a genuine high-end product needs the efforts of all the supply chain. This is why we only buy premium raw materials and accessories. Being selective is mainly to keep all good chances at our side and offer a product that works on-site more than sits in the maintenance yard.
Refer to our Partners page for more details.
Marketing & Sales:
We do not promise the cheapest product but we do promise the best. The SLIGHT price difference is justified by our material selection and fabrication processes, nothing more and nothing odd. What counts for us is offering a product A STEP AHEAD of other competitors.
OMI''s marketing and sales teams spread over 3 continents and can communicate in Arabic, English and French to ensure that your needs are met and the product is just what your work environment requests.
